Community Involvement

"Exciting; yes...Fun; not so much"

Those words from a rattled passenger in my boat after the third Annual Royal LePage Blast for NADY may well best describe the rocky water conditions on Lake Nipissing on Saturday, July 21.

Sunny skies provided a serene landscape but waves up to four feet made for an eventful ride that another passenger inappropriately compared me to the Captain of the Titanic.

The days was well worth the watery turbulence as over $10,000.00 was raised for the Nipissing Association for Disabled Youth bringing total contributions from this annual event to more than $61,000.00.

The good citizens of North Bay and Callander turned out to support the Charity Poker Run and over 300 came down the Harbour to take a look see at the unique boats gathered from all over the Province. One boat made a long trek from Louisiana specifically for the day and I can assure you that North Bay now has a bayou ambassador singing praises of Northern Hospitality.

Many thanks go out to all the volunteers and sponsors who made the day special and continue our tradition for giving back to the Community in a meaningful manner.

It is always heartening to see friends and neighbours contributing in a practical way during tougher economic times.

Organizational support from the Performance Boat Club of Canada and all sponsors are acknowledged and very much appreciated.
